W.T. Bill Ogan went on to his heavenly reward at 10:53 pm on February 9, 2009 at the Shawn Manor Nursing Center in Ponca City. He was 87 years of age. Bill was born March 8, 1921 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of William Harrison Ogan and Nellie Mae Eikenberry Ogan. He was a graduate of Nelogany High School near Pawhuska. W.T. started his career after high school, working first at Safeway and for 23 years at Conoco-Phillips, Ponca City. Farming was his passion and he was a skilled welder, crop grower and stockman. Bill enjoyed country music and had played at the McCord Senior Center, Nutrition Center, and at Shawn Manor to entertain the old folks. He enjoyed bass fishing and was blessed with many friends. Bill always took time to help out his neighbor. Bill served his country during WWII from 1944-46 in the U.S. Army 7th Calvary that secured the Philippines where he received a Philippine Liberation ribbon with one star. His duty was completed with an Honorable discharge and a good conduct medal. His wife, Chris, who had shared over 60 year of marriage, preceded him on July 16, 2001. Surviving family members include his sons Ronald Taylor Ogan, Brandon, Mississippi and William C. Ogan, Burbank, Oklahoma. His boys had spent the last day with their dad. He had five grandchildren, Vincent Taylor Collogan, Columbus, Georgia; Tana Renee Goodwin, Irving, Texas; Scott Ogan, Oklahoma City; Lore Ogan of Kansas and Christelinn Ogan, deceased. He had 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Longwood Cemetery with Longwood Baptist Church pastor, Mike Ridgway, presiding. Bills body will rest next to his beloved wife Chris, forever at peace. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
