William Andrew Bill Moore, 71, passed away Sunday February 12, 2012 at Ponce City Medical Center. Bill was born March 11, 1940 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Matthew and Estella Williams Moore. Bill, as he was known by his friends, was the third child of seven children born of this union. Two brothers, Embert and John preceded him in death.
Bill began his education at Attucks school where was a dedicated and active student. He was member of the band and was also on the football team. Bill completed his high school education at Ponca City High School, graduating in 1958. Bill was baptized into the 7th Day Adventist Church in 2003 in California.
Upon graduation from High School, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy as a boatswains mate where he proudly served his country. Bills active duty time was spent in Vietnam where he made countless contributions on behalf of our country. Bill was honorably discharged in 1964. Upon his discharge from the military Bill made his home in California until his retirement as an aircraft mechanic. He returned to Ponca City in 2007.
Bill leaves behind two sons from his first marriage, Kevin and Keith both of Los Angeles, California and a daughter, Karen.
On May 24, 1972, Bill married Valda Wade where they were joined by her children, Roderick, Paul, Mark and Jacqueline. Bill and Valda later adopted Valdas grandson Shareif Moore.
Bill is survived by his wife Valda, one brother, Marvin Moore of Kansas, three sisters, Morenda Jean J.C. Fields of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Zora Brown of Los Angeles, California, and Sandra Bob Caine of Houston, Texas. MotherInLaw Mable James of Moreno Valley, CA. Bill will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Matthew and Keith, Jr., Valdas grandchildren Ashley, Candesia, Leon and Kevin, and many other step grand, step greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Vannoy Fitch officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Bob Caine, J.C Fields, Delbert Smith, John Moore, Ed Thrasher, Kenneth Moreno, Andrea Moreno, Greg Brown, Phillip Moore and Allen Miller.
Burial will take place at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK.
