Wayne Pemberton

August 4, 1942 — December 6, 2021

Wayne Pemberton of Ponca City was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 6, 2021, He was 79 years old. He was born on August 4, 1942, in Ponca City the son of James Hersel and Alice Lucille (Armstrong) Pemberton.

When Wayne was six years old his family moved to a farm in Thompson, MO and he attended the Goodwater School. When Wayne turned eleven the family moved back to Ponca City, and he attended Garfield elementary school and Po High graduating in 1960. After High school he joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country and joined the Army reserves. Wayne also attended Oklahoma State University where he earned an associate degree in 1963 in Drafting and Design. Wayne started his career with Conoco on April 13, 1964 and retiring in 1996. On June 1, 1963, he married Pat Pomeroy and of this union two children were born, Tony Pemberton and Mitzi Pemberton. On October 29, 1995, he met Carla Rodman and she became the love of his life, and they were married April 11, 1998, in which this union brought two families together and he gained a bonus daughter: Brenda Allen. Wayne was a member of the American Institute for Design and Draftsmen. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a talented taxidermist. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them the most. He was a loving father and devoted husband and he delighted in teaching his grandchildren gun safety and hunting skills. Wayne’s taxidermy hobby turned into a successful business for several years. Wayne also enjoyed building custom cars and interiors during his early years. Wayne was a member of the Chariots Car Club, Schooner Car Club. After Wayne retired, he became an avid fisherman, and he joined the PC Bass Club and fishing with his good friend Walt Klinger until his heath forced him to retire in 2020. Wayne attended Second Baptist Church of Ponca City where he attended regularly with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Troy Pemberton and sister Carol Pemberton.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Carla of 23 years, son Tony Pemberton of Las Vegas, daughter Mitzi Pemberton and Eric Edwards of Ponca City and Bonus daughter Brenda Allen of Stillwater. Five grandchildren; Taylor and Kaylee Pemberton, Ethan Deibler and Karly James, Allison Edwards, Jackson Osborn, and Ty Pemberton, Four great grandchildren; Charlotte Beth Pemberton, Skylar Pemberton, Alexandria Pemberton, and Baby Girl Pemberton also surviving is a sister-in-law, Lanita Pemberton of Bartlesville.

Friends are welcome to stop by Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City on Thursday December 9, 2021, from 2 pm -7 pm with the family in attendance from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to receive friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held at the Second Baptist Church of Ponca City on Friday 12/10 beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Newkirk City Cemetery. Pastor Matt Brown and Pastor Matt Click will officiate. Casketbearers for the service will include Tony Pemberton, Taylor Pemberton, Ethan Deibler, Jackson Osborn, Eric Edwards, and Kenny Bright
