Wanda Jean Gifford

Wanda Jean Shorty Gifford, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Integris Blackwell Regional Hospital. She was 83 years of age.

Wanda was born February 3, 1928 at Idabell, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert Givens and Molly Smith Givens. She was married to Harry Walter Gifford on April 4, 1948 in Monahan, Texas. The couple moved to Ponca City in 1951. Mr. Gifford preceded her in death on June 23, 1997. The couple owned and operated the Gifford Furniture Store for 34 years, retiring in 1985.

She is survived by two sons, Harry Gifford Jr. and wife, Andrea, and Jim Gifford, all of Ponca City one brother, Butch Givens, Boise, Idaho 5 grandchildren, Cameron Gifford, Drew Gifford, Tyler Gifford, Felicia Gifford and Barry Gifford 4 great grandchildren and one niece, Melissa Larned. She was preceded in death by her parents husband one brother and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Lukes Nazarene Church, 1715 East Prospect Ave. with Pastor David Frees presiding. Arrangements were under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
