Virgie M. Haines longtime Ponca City resident died on January 6, 2021 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehab Center. She was 89 years old.
Virgie was born on November 25, 1931 at Dexter, KS, the daughter of Aaron McCord Haines and Pearl Elizabeth (Gallaton) Haines. Her family moved to Fairfax, OK when Virgie was 5 years old. She attended school at Fairfax and was a Fairfax Red Devil graduating in 1949.
She worked at Walker Drug and then later spent 18 years as the Telephone-Receptionist at Pioneer Bank which later became RCB Bank. She loved talking to everyone, not only on the phone, but also was one of the best door greeters! She was loved by all.
Virgie was a ‘Sports Nut”! She loved all sports of any kind.
After her retirement from RCB she loved helping at the McCord Senior Citizens Center serving in various roles.
She was a member of Osage Heights Baptist Church and she helped in the summers with Vacation Bible School.
She was a member of RSVP as well.
She is survived by her nieces Tammy Riff of Ponca City and Pam Pruett of Burbank and one sister, Beulah Lorriane McNairy of Augusta, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 Brothers, Buck Haines, Charles Haines, Joseph Haines, Fred Haines, Frank Haines and Max Haines; 3 Sisters, Judy Waller, Louise Keck and Genieva Louia.
