Viola Reynolds passed away from this life of March 5, 2011 at the Integris Blackwell Hospital after a short illness. Viola was born on April 7, 1920, the daughter of Vernon S. Spencer and Ethel Jordan Spencer. She grew up in the Oilton and Drumright area and received her education in the Oilton and Drumright school systems, graduating from Oilton High School as Salutatorian in 1937. She attended and graduated from the Tulsa Business College in 1938 after which she was employed at the Citizens Bank of Drumright until 1945.

Viola and John Eugene Reynolds were married at Chandler, Oklahoma on April7, 1939. They moved to Ponca City in 1945 and lived here until May 1949 at which time her husband was transferred by Southwestern Bell to Stillwater, Oklahoma. While living in Stillwater Viola was employed at the Stillwater National Bank. The family was active in the First Baptist Church.

In 1968 she and her husband were transferred back to Ponca City where he retired in 1977. They were both active in the Telephone Pioneers organization and the First Baptist Church. Viola served as Financial Secretary at the church until her retirement and then taught several Sunday School classes for a number of years. She loved to paint, sew and quilt and was an active member of the Ponca City Art Association until the time of her death.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband Gene in June, 2001. She is survived by one son, Dr. Don E. Reynolds and his wife, Hedi of San Antonio, Texas one granddaughter, Kristin Renee LeVoyer and her husband, Dr. Thomas E. LeVoyer and three greatgrandchildren, Sean Mathew, Avery Nicole and Emmanual Emma Grace LeVoyer, all of San Antonio. Viola has several nieces and nephews in Oregon, Texas and Oklahoma including Larry Reynolds and his wife, Susie of Ponca City.

There will be a visitation for family and friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service hour.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7th 2011 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
