Viola Ann Collins, resident of White Eagle, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was 55 years old. Viola was born the daughter of Adolphus Warrior and Lucille Littlevoice Warrior on May 27, 1954 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Ponca City in 1975. She graduated from the Police Academy in 1978 and was employed with law enforcement and later worked security from 1993 to 2000 for Blue Star Gaming. Viola took great pride in her home. She loved doing her own yard work and interior decorating. Viola was very festive and always had her home well decorated for each holiday. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family three to four times each week. One of her best talents was bead work. She also created Indian jewelry, shawls and outfits for her family. Viola was a big OU fan and she would listen to the OU game every Saturday. She also liked watching old classic movies; Gone with the Wind and Green Dolphin Street, were her favorites. Life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very proud of their involvement with their Indian heritage. Viola was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Alisa Eagle, Robert Collins and Bruce Collins; grandchildren, Henry Collins, Justin Collins, Wesley Collins, Nate Collins, Bryson Eagle, Calissa Collins, Keeya Collins, Mee-Kai Collins, Keli Webster, Sami Beets and Taelyn Cries For Ribs; two sisters, Sandra Lay and Georgianna Warrior; four brothers, Allen Warrior, Eddie Warrior, John Warrior and Bruce Warrior; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus and Lucille Warrior and one grandchild, Cara Webster. Casket bearers for the service will be Robert Collins, Bruce Collins, Eddie Warrior, Bruce Warrior, Wayne Warrior and Allen Warrior. Honorary casket bearers will be Henry Collins, Justin Collins, Wesley Collins, Nate Collins and Bryson Eagle. An evening prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church, with Brother Jimmy White and Louis Headman officiating. The traditional noon meal and feast will be held before the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
