Thomas Gawhega

Thomas Gawhega, longtime resident of the Ponca City area, passed Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was 52.

Thomas was born December 8, 1958 in Ponca City, the son of Roy Daniel Gawhega and Eva Sylvia Kihega Gawhega. He was a 1976 graduate of Marland High School. Thomas honorably served his country in the United State Air Force. He enjoyed going to the library and was very educated and well read. He loved simplicity in his life and enjoyed fishing and had a great love for his great nieces and nephews.

He is survived by two sisters, Lena Gawhega and Audrey Gawhega both of Marland other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents his companion Elaine Williams and one brother, Raymond Gawhega III.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel with the funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 also at Grace Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery.
