Thelma R. Buffalohead, longtime resident of the Ponca City area, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 85. Thelma was born December 26, 1922 near Ponca City, the daughter of Thomas Roy and Lizzie Makes Cloud Roy. She received her education in the Pawnee Schools. She was married to Thurman Buffalohead on December 10, 1945 in Newkirk. Thelma was a member of the Ponca Indian Full Gospel Church. Her enjoyments included children, gardening, baking, sewing for her family, animals, singing and reading her Bible. She was noted for being a prayer warrior for any and all. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thurman Buffalohead, of the home; one daughter, Linda Rhea, Ponca City; five grandsons, Pete Buffalohead, Jason Buffalohead, Jared Buffalohead, Stacey Buffalohead and James Rhea; 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild: numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Stacey Buffalohead; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Prayer services will be held each evening at the Ponca Indian Full Gospel Church. A noon meal will be served on Friday, October 31, 2008 at the Church with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Sister Lou Topetchy will preside over the service. Burial will be in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Casket bearers will be Harley Buffalohead, Pete Buffalohead, Jason Buffalohead, James Rhea, Tom Morgan, Jeffrey Pappan, Eleazar Chavez and Millard Cere.
