Frances Sue Juckes was born on April 2nd, 1936. Sue was the daughter of Carrie Temple Brown and Austin Howard Schofield. The oldest of three children she had one brother, Paul Howard Schofield and a sister Edith Gertrude Schofield Finch.
Though most people thought Sue was too forceful a presence to die, she did pass away on January 30th, 2011 in Oklahoma City. She was 74 years of age.
Sue went to high school in Canoga Park, California where she swam on the racing teams and marched in the Drill Team. During the summers she was a lifeguard at Zuma Beach and a skating car hop for Bobs Home of the Big Boy. She graduated from Northridge Junior College where she studied business courses. Sue later moved to Artesia, New Mexico where she married Charles Francis Juckes. Together they had 5 children.
While living in Billings, Montana, Sue worked as a secretary for the Cub Scouts of America, at that time becoming one of the first women to work for the boys organization. After she and Charles divorced, Sue worked at Conoco in Ponca City, Oklahoma in the Mineral Lease Records and then the Purchasing Department. After retiring from Conoco, she then worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center now Ponca City Medical Center as the Medical Records Clerk in the Engineering department. She eventually went back to Conoco entering Material Safety Data Sheets for Conoco refineries worldwide.
Sue was artistic, well organized, and in charge, even when she wasnt a trait that she passed on to many of her children.
Sue could carry on a conversation no matter what the topic or the audience. She loved the nature channel and always wanted to know why, no matter how insignificant her children thought the topic was. Sue always spoke her mind.
An avid animal lover, Sue used to show Tennessee Walking horses, did Roman Riding, and always had dogs Gordo who rode on the motorcycle, Mishka Bluefrost Snow Dancer who rafted with her in Montana, and left behind her poodle Dink who was her beloved companion for the last 5 years.
Sue is survived by her children, Steven LeRoy Juckes, his wife Kathy, their children Steven Paul and Kailee Ann and Kailees daughter Addison Leann Charles Austin Juckes, his son Charles Neal Juckes Deborah Sioux Juckes, her husband Curt Thompson, her children Joshua James Stieber, his wife Christina and their daughter Kinsley Corrine, and Jacob Thomas Ryan Stieber Diana Sue Russell, her husband Steven Frank Russell, their children, Lane William and Levi Steven Dorothy Sue Patton, and her daughter Magnolia Sue. Her brother, Paul Howard Schofield, his wife Susie, their children Carrie Ann, Austin Paul, and many, many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her father Austin Howard Schofield, her mother Carrie Temple Brown Schofield, her sister Edith Gertrude Schofield Finch, all seven of her mothers siblings and spouses, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Dick Robinson presiding.
