Shirley Ann Towse, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Saturday, May 7, 2011. She was 76 years of age.
Shirley was born September 14, 1934 at Salina, Kansas, the daughter of Richard Paul Jennings and Leone Pagan Jennings. She received her early schooling in Salina, Hutchinson Schools and Hutchinson Junior College. She was married to Lyle Towse on March 10, 1953 in Del Rio, Texas.
She was a bookkeeper and had been employed with Evans and Associates for 26 years. She then worked for A to Z Machining, retiring in 2006. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and in earlier years a member of the Altar Society. She also had taught religion classes at St. Marys and served as a girl scout leader during her daughters early years. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren, playing the piano, working on the computer and doing genealogy research.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle, of the home three daughters, Jeanelle Wirtz and husband, Jerry, of Ponca City, Connie Evans and husband, Gene, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Rebecca Diebold and husband, Eddie, of Ponca City two brothers, Kenneth Jennings, Hutchison, Kansas and Roger Jennings and wife, Vickie, of San Fransisco, California a brotherinlaw, Everett Johnson a sisterinlaw, Ellen Lee 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents 2 sisters, Doris Johnson and Marg Stapleton one great grandchild, Matthew King.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Plevna, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be grandsons and great grandsons, Mark King, Steven King, Bradley King, Austin Ingram, Hayden Flattery and Cody King.
