Scott M. Mansfield, a longtime resident of Ponca City is walking with Jesus now. Scott went home Friday morning, September 21, surrounded by his wife and children after a long battle with ALS.
Scott was born on August 12, 1960 in Rocky Ford, CO to Raymond and Betty Wright Mansfield. Scotts family moved to Ponca City from Fowler, CO when Scott was 6yearsold. Scott was a 1978 graduate of PoHi. He attended and completed the auto body and paint program at Pioneer VoTech. He received the outstanding student award his junior and senior years. He was in the paint and body business from the time he graduated high school. He was employed at G M Collision Center from 1986 until he could no longer work. To Scott the people he worked with at GM were extended family. Anyone who knows Scott will tell you that no one can blend paint like him. Scott was proud of his work and if he didnt think it was perfect, he would work at it until it was right. Scott believed in a strong work ethic and quality workmanship.
He is survived by his wife Cindy of the home, Children Tori husband Ryan Field, Ben and wife Natalie, Daniel and wife Ashlee, Zac, Jacob and Caleb all of Ponca City. Scott had 5 grandchildren Grace, Nadia, Nathan, Colt and Jocelyn. 2 brothers John and wife Kris of Tulsa, Bill and wife Freda of Spring, TX, 2 sisters Sandra Sherman of Avondale. CO, Lynda and husband Leon Slape of Plato, MO, sisterinlaw Nita Mansfield of Las Vegas, NV, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and much extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dan.
Scott was a member of First Assembly of God. He faithfully attended church until he was unable to sit up in the wheelchair any longer without pain. Scott loved knew the word of God studied it often. Next to Jesus and family, Scott considered his 1986 Chevy truck and his 1976 Pontiac Trans Am the loves of his life.
Funeral Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Ponca 1st Assembly Church, with Pastor Micah Wells, officiating. Casket bearers will be his sons Ben, Daniel Zac, Jacob, Caleb and Ryan.
Burial will follow in the Longwood Cemetery.
