Scott Williams Garrett

Scott Williams Garrett, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at his home. He was 85 years of age.

Scott was born November 5, 1926 in Ponca City, the son of Herbert Amos Garrett and Flora L. Williams Garrett. He attended the Ponca City Schools. He served his country in the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Prince William Escort Carrier. After the war Scott began employment with Cities Service of Ponca City and then with Conoco until his retirement in 1986. He was married to Alka Nathalie Francis on March 12, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas. He was a longtime member of Sunset Baptist Church. His enjoyments included fishing, hunting, camping and tinkering in his garage. He was a sincere Christian as his faith was a very important part of his life.

Scott is survived by his two children, Wade Garrett of Hutchinson, Kansas and Linda Garrett of Ponca City two grandchildren, Kimberly Binford and Jennifer Madden three great grandchildren, Ty Binford, Taylor Binford and Jett Madden. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Alka on September 12, 2001 two brothers, Sherman Garrett and Sterlin Garrett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Sunset Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Brown presiding. Interment will follow in the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Orville Wilks, Ralph Mangrum, Joe Schilts, Dwain Wood, Bob Tucker and Pat Bunny. Honorary casket bearer is Bob Quinn.
