Ruth Marie Fruits, longtime resident of Kaw City, passed away on Sunday, April 05, 2009 at Baptist Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was 85. Ruth was born the daughter of Donald Vane Tebow and Catherine Miller Tebow on September 10, 1923 in Enid, Oklahoma. She grew up in Lamont, Oklahoma on the family farm. On April 18, 1948 Ruth married Keith Aldon Fruits of Tonkawa, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Kaw City where they farmed on the land that is now Sarge Creek Cove. Ruth was a creative lady with many talents. She enjoyed oil painting, drawing with ink and sewing. One year she custom made shirts for the entire Shidler Band. She loved cooking and was a wonderful cook. At a young age, her father taught her how to make pies and noodles from scratch, and by the age of 9 she baked her first pie. She experimented with new recipes, but for the church socials, she always made her delicious noodles. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Kaw City. Ruth loved her church, family and friends and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Cox of Kaw City, Oklahoma; son, John D. Fruits of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and one adopted daughter, Doris Wilgus of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one sister, June Edwards; two brothers, Delbert Tebow of Washington State and Jim Tebow of Alaska; one adopted granddaughter, Dr. Robin Rennie as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Cassie. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Bobby; brothers, Don Tebow and Leonard Tebow; and one sister, Dortha Ninneman. Casket bearers for the service will be Tony Radcliff, Larry Myers, Floyd Cook, Bill Holcomb, Jerry Woods and Bill Crenshaw. Honorary bearers will be John Trekell, George Weeks, Don Ford and Bob Rosson.
