Ruby Glea Johnston, 81, died at home on February 6th, 2012 with her husband and a son at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lynn Smith.
Born Ruby Glea Smith on April 19, 1930 at Norwich, Kansas. She was the daughter of Bruce and Mildred Coffman Smith. She attended grade school through high school in Norwich, where she graduated in 1948.
She attended the Norwich Christian Church with her family and where she was baptized, May 21, 1944.
Glea worked at the First National Bank in Wichita, KS then later returned to Norwich where she worked for the Farmers State Bank.
On December 28, 1951, she married Phil Johnston in the Norwich Christian Church where she was a member. They made their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma and remained there throughout their years. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in December, 2011.
She was blessed with two sons which she dearly cherished. Tim and his wife, Carolyn, reside in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Tod resides in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
She is survived by her husband, her two sons, her sister, Connie Strohl, her brother Lyle Smith and his wife Donna, two granddaughters, Janie and Anna, three great grandchildren, Lydia, Eion and Natalie and many nieces and nephews.
One of her great passions was to spend time enjoying the beauty of the Silverton, Colorado area. She referred to this area as Gods country.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the Norwich Christian Church, with Pastor Cathy Holley officiating. Viewing will be at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the Upchurch Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Scott Strohl, Sid Strohl, Shane Hilger, Rusty Siemens, Eric Meyers and David Hayes.
