Ruby Elene Jackson, resident of Fairfax, passed away at Fairfax Manor Nursing Home on Sunday, March 29, 2009. She was 89. Ruby was born the daughter of Harley Hyder and Pearlee Grissom Hyder on January 12, 1920 in Avilla, Missouri. She grew up in Missouri and later married Howard William Jackson on March 3, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple moved to Grainola, Oklahoma where they owned and operated Jackson Service Station. She also was a school bus driver for Shidler Public Schools for many years. Ruby enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting and being on the election board and was a longtime member of Grainola First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Letitia Jackson of Mount Ida, Arkansas and grandson, C.R. Head of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 brother and 1 sister. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Foraker Cemetery with The Reverend Ivy Collier officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Methodist Church of Grainola.
