Rowena Jacqueline Daugomah, Ponca City resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at her home. She was 76.
Rowena was born to the late George Riddle and Ida Mehojah in Washunga, Oklahoma on July 2, 1933. She grew up in Washunga and attended Pawnee Indian School and Chilocco Indian School. She later graduated from St. Josephs School of Nursing in 1955. Rowena was a registered nurse employed with Indian Health Service. She retired after 28 years of service.
Rowena was a member of Kaw Nation. She enjoyed attending powwows and watching OU football.
She is survived by her son, David Ringwald of Ponca City, Oklahoma grandchildren, Jared Adler, Olivia Adler and Jordyn Adler numerous nieces, nephews and cousins she is also survived by her beloved dog, Gizmo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida daughter, Patricia Ann Adler sons, Billy George Ringwald and Curtis Neal Ringwald and sister, Velda Dailey.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Kaw Nation Community Center near Washunga Bay. The Rev. S.G. Mehojah of Omaha, Nebraska will officiate. Burial will follow at Washunga Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Rowenas honor to the Ponca City Humane Society, P.O. Box 1671, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74602.
