Roberta Whitehorn

Roberta Joan Whitehorn, White Eagle resident, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 32.
Roberta was born February 4, 1978 in Ponca City, Oklahoma and she was the daughter of the late Robert W. McClellan Sr. and Velda Joan CriesForRibs McClellan. She was also the Granddaughter of the late Howard and Lucy Bigsnake CriesForRibs, Frank and Elvina Small McClellen Sr. She was a member of the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Native American Chruch. Roberta enjoyed her tribal culture. She enjoyed painting, dancing and singing at powwows as well as doing beadwork. She was the 19931994 Ponca Tribal Princess, a great honor that made her family proud. She was also princess for various organizations such as OoKeeHee Club, 19911993, Tulsa powwow princess, 2000 and Miss Indian N.O.C., 2001. She was also at the age of 12 cook for the Scalp Dance. She loved visiting with friends but her main joy was being with her family.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Derrick Whitehorn of the home brother, Robert McClellan Jr. four sisters, Tracy Warledo, Lucie JealousOfHim, Jamie Chippewa and Robin McClellan nieces, Consuela and Cassidy JealousOfHim, Shawnee Smith and Isabelle George nephews, T.J. Williams, Darius Smith, Matthew JealousOfHim III stepmother, Lucy McClellan as well as numerous other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Casket bearers for the service will be Cameron Cozad, Josh LeRoy, T.J. Williams, Robert CriesForRibs Jr., Kyle Enloe, Dwayne Dudley, J.B. Kinlechenny and Jeff McClellan.
Honorary bearers are Carrie Spang, Gina Red Eagle, Welana Fields, Emerald Keen, Reagan McDonald and Macy CriesForRibs.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church with Brother Jimmy White and Oliver Littlecook Sr. officiating. The traditional noon meal will be held before the funeral service. Evening prayer services will be held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church. A Native American Church Meeting will be conducted on Wednesday as well. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
