Robert Cox

Robert Darryl Cox, longtime Ponca City resident, passed February 27, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Enid. He was 77 years of age.

Robert was born August 27, 1937 in Winfield, Kansas, the only child of Raymond Willis Cox and Wilma Florence (Swisher) Cox. Robert was a 1956 graduate of Ponca City High School. He went on to complete his Associate Degree from Oklahoma State University. He was married to Carolyn Sue Lake on June 7, 1959 in Ponca City. The couple moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965, returning to Ponca City in 1984.

Robert was a metallurgist having been employed with Smith-International Manufacturing in Ponca City. He attended Community Christian Church and had been involved with the local theatre group as it's photographer. His enjoyments were photography, playing the guitar and ukulele, and in earlier years he enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his three sons, Scott Cox and wife Kathryn of Garland, Texas, Brian Cox of Chelsea, Oklahoma, and Aaron Cox and wife Angi, of Grapevine, Texas; eight grandchildren, Graceanne Cox, Zac Cox, Conner Cox, Hannah Cox, Donovan Cox, Jarred Cox, Gabbie Cox and Jillian Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Carolyn on August 16, 2000.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Grace Memorial Chapel with former Community Christian Church pastor Mark Lyon presiding. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers are Scott Cox, Brian Cox, Aaron Cox, Zac Cox, Conner Cox and Vaughn Hicks.
