Rick Lee Coursey, lifelong resident of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was 51. Rick was born the son of Clifford Lloyd Coursey and Peggy Ann Clinton on May 25, 1958 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1976. He was employed with Southwest Cupid in Blackwell for 21 years where he was currently a supervisor. Rick married Sherry Long on September 19, 1992 in Blackwell. Rick was an avid football and baseball fan and the OU Sooners, Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys were his favorite teams. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing softball, deer hunting and camping. He also loved playing cards, especially Pitch. Rick liked to travel throughout the United States and he always enjoyed going to Colorado and Las Vegas when he had the opportunity. Rick was a loving father and husband who genuinely cared about everybody. His presence will be greatly missed. Rick is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sherry; mother, Peggy Coursey; children, Derick Coursey of Auburn, Washington, Aaron Coursey of Wichita, Kansas, Chase Meadows Coursey of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Mindy Coursey of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Renea Coursey of Blackwell, Oklahoma; sisters, Terrie Groeneman and husband, Mark of Clearlake, Texas, Tonya Holley and husband, Sam of Trophy Club, Texas; Vonnette McGrogan and husband, Joe of Santa Cruz, California; brothers, Clint Coursey and wife, Pam of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Bill Coursey of Vinita, Oklahoma; mother in law, Janetta Hutson of Ponca City, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford and father in law, Joe Hutson. Casket bearers for the service will be Mark Aytes, Tim Grove, Faron Rourk, Tom Biliel, John Whitehead and George Clouse. Honorary casket bearers will be Jack Venn and the employees of Southwest Cupid. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Blackwell High School Auditorium with Reverend Bob Weaver officiating.
