Richard Mathius Savenko, Ponca City resident, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010 at his home. He was 58 years old.
Richard was born on June 17, 1951 to Steven Richard Savenko and Magdalena Lippert Savenko in Bismarck, North Dakota. He grew up in Wilton, North Dakota. Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 4, 1972 and was honorably discharged on September 6, 1975. He was employed at the Ponca City Airport for eight years and later worked in construction.
Richard enjoyed watching old western movies and comedys. He was a quiet man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being outside, especially in the early morning, where he could sit and watch the sun rise with a good cup of coffee. He loved fishing, hunting and the snow too. When he was able, Richard liked to garden and do yard work.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Buffalohead children, Michele Buffalohead and Stephen Buffalohead sisters, Virginia Ross and Shirley Berg.
He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Tim Eddinger.
Casket bearers for the service will be Wiley Whitehorn, Ron Buffalohead, Paul Waldron and Lloyd Hinman.
Honorary bearers will be Lancho Mendoza, Leonard Biggoose and Paul Thurlow.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
