Paul Halbert Kleckner, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Sterling House of Ponca City. He was 93.

Paul was born October 14, 1916 in Morris, Oklahoma, the son of Phillip Harold Kleckner and Florence Wanda Halbert Kleckner. Paul served his country in the United States Army. He was married to Elva Jamar Pride on September 26, 1937 in Seminole, Oklahoma where they made their first home. Paul had worked for a time at the Chadwick Funeral Home in Seminole before beginning oil field work as a contract pumper. The couple moved to Ponca City in March of 1957.

Paul was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ponca City where he served as deacon. His enjoyments included telling jokes and in earlier years traveling and fishing.

He is survived by his son, Jack Kleckner and wife, Sandy, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma his daughterinlaw, Carol Kleckner of Houston, Texas five grandchildren, John Kleckner and wife, Kristina, Rachel Fitzgibbon and husband, Michael, Travis Kleckner, Jason Kleckner and wife, Mindy, and Jacob Kleckner and wife, Kristi ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife one son, Kenneth David Kleckner two brothers, Frank and Don Kleckner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church, Ponca City with former Minister of Education, Rev. Larry Heslip presiding. A committal service will follow at 4 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearer will be grandchildren, John Kleckner, Rachel Fitzgibbon, Travis Kleckner, Jason Kleckner, Jacob Kleckner and Justin Kleckner. Honorary casket bearers will be Frank Suess, Tom Skaggs, H.T. Duff and George Ivie.
