Oressa Overland

Oressa Hope Grant Susie Overland, resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Tulsa. She was 57.

Susie was born March 23, 1953 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jesse Grant Sr. and Josephine DeLodge Grant. She attended the White Eagle Schools before attending the Chilocco Indian School. In 1972 she was crowned the Chilocco Wrestling Queen. She was married to Teddy Overland on August 15, 1972. The couple made their first home in Dallas, Texas, later moving to Ponca City. She was a member of the Ponca Indian Baptist Church and her enjoyments were being with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, William Overland and Frank Overland, both of Dallas, Texas, Hope Overland and Ernestine Overland, both of Florida, and Regina Overland and Daniel Overland, both of Ponca City 18 grandchildren 7 sisters, Stephanie Sisco, Jessica Clark, Darlene DeLodge, Monica DeLodge, Pearline DeLodge, Yvonne Warrior and Johnell DeLodge 3 brothers, Raymond DeLodge, Dwight DeLodge, Louie DeLodge and Joseph DeLodge her close friend, Aunt Bea numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Grant Sr. and Josephine Grant sisters, Grace Grant, Jesse Darlene Grant, Vashti Marie Grant brothers, Danny Grant, Billy Gene Spotted Bear, Melvin DeLodge and Melburn DeLodge a granddaughter, Gloria Rhodd nephews Algernon Grant and Lee Roy paternal grandparents Baptiste and Lizzy Hairy Back DeLodge.

Prayer services will be held both Friday and Saturday evenings at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center. A noon meal will be served on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Clifford Springwater will preside over the services. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Wiley White Horn, Jesse LeClair Jr., Steve Roy, Ponca Warrior, Micheal Allen and Ledell Buffalohead. Honorary casket bearers will be John W. Warrior Jr., Tony DeLodge, Baptiste DeLodge, Carl DeLodge, Melvin DeLodge, Chris DeLodge and Shadrach Buffalohead.
