M.J. Bud Jones, resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 64 years of age.

Bud was born August 16, 1947 in Shidler, Oklahoma, the son of Johnny Ivan Jones and Deloris J. Cole Jones. He attended the McCord School and was a 1965 graduate of Ponca City High School. He served his country in the United States Navy, having served a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was married to Susan Peterson on November 6, 1970 in Ponca City. He had worked for the B L Tin Shop, then Mullins Sheet Metal before opening Bud Jones Heat Air which he operated from 1982 until 1995.

Bud had worked with the Boy Scouts for several years and was most recently a volunteer for transporting people to and from the Veteran Hospitals. He was a member of Osage Heights Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. His enjoyments included spending time with his children and grandchildren, camping, and in earlier years fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, of the home three children, Christy Jones, Kelly Jones and Tyler Jones one sister, Shelley Walker 4 grandchildren, Kylie Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Colby Taylor and Kailyn Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Osage Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Cooper presiding. Interment will be in the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Frank Kuykendall, Bob Ailey, Ben Warner, Tim Edens, Ron Edens and David Grider.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Jones name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Research, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104
