Mitchell Red Roy Jr., resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away at his home on Monday, July 21, 2008. He was 77. Mitchell was born to Mitchell Roy Sr. and Rosa Primeaux Roy on October 25, 1930 at the Pawnee Indian Hospital in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He grew up in White Eagle, Oklahoma and attended Ponca City Schools. Mitchell loved sports and while in high school he played football, baseball and basketball. Mitchell also enjoyed watching sports, playing pool and bowling. He enlisted in the United States Army at a young age and devoted 15 years of faithful service to his country. During his military career, he was stationed in Korea and Germany. After being honorably discharged from military service, he was employed at JM Roofing where he worked for 30 years. In April of 1972, he married Marie Bonaparte in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mitchell was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved being with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Rosa Roy of Ponca City, Oklahoma; three step-children, Harold McGuire, Sherry McGuire and Charlie McGuire; three brothers, Gordon Roy, Tracy Spencer and Galen Motah; one sister, Francelia Roy; grandchildren, Nancy Wyena and Jimmy Wyena of Washington State, Mitchell Dao and Michelle Dao of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mindy McGuire, David Hadley Jr., Melissa Hadley, Shawn McGuire, Kristie McGuire, Jennifer McGuire, Tara McGuire and Randy Johnson; also surviving him are twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Roy; brother, Rodney Roy; sister, Clara Roughface; grandson, Brian Long Pham Sr.; step-daughters, Janice McGuire and Patricia Hadley. Casket bearers for the service will be Charlie McGuire, Victor Luna, Mitchell Dao, Sean McGuire, Harold McGuire and Damon Roughface. Honorary bearers will be Gordon Roy, Tracy Roy, Spencer Roy, Galen Motah, Hank Rhodd, David Hadley Sr. and David Hadley Jr. An evening prayer service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. The noon meal will be held before the funeral service with the location to be announced at a later time. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Graham officiating and Reverend Jimmy White and Doug Eagle Assisting. Burial will follow at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery in White Eagle, Oklahoma under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
