Miles Albert Seward

Miles Albert Seward, resident of Ponca City, passed Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home in the Osage. He was 70 years of age.

Miles was born February 7, 1943 at Oilton, Oklahoma, Creek County, the son of Albert John Seward and Cleo Inez Jones Seward. His early education was in the Middle Enterprise School East of Ralston, Oklahoma. Miles was married to Catherine Inez Knight on March 13, 1966 in the Ralston Sunny Slope community.

Miles had first worked for the Ralston Rock Company, west of Ralston. The couple moved to Winfield, Kansas in 1967 where he was employed with the City of Winfield. In 1968 Miles began employment with Chandler Materials Company in Ponca City. The couple moved to Collinsville, Oklahoma in 1972 with Miles working for Chandler Material Company of Tulsa. Miles had been employed some 35 years with the Chandler Material Company, retiring as a machine operator. Miles had been very active with the Special Olympics of Oklahoma. His enjoyments included running the Ponca City News newspaper route with his brother Donnie his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy two children, James Albert Seward and wife, Amy, of Houma, Louisiana and Tracy Dawn Kerr and husband, Dwain, of Hulbert, Oklahoma one brother, Donnie Seward three sisters, Violet Higgins, Linda Pendergraft and Brenda Peterson 9 grandchildren, Darren Seward, Jacci Kerr, Stephanie Kerr, Katie Seward, Corey Kerr, Brandon Kerr, Brittany Seward, Cameron Perkins and Emily Frost one great grandson, Maverick Kerr numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents infant brother Johnny Seward and two sisters, Bonnie Fields and Wanda Cotham.

A graveside memorial committal will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Ralston Riverside Cemetery south of Ralston. Hospice of North Central Oklahoma Chaplain Mike Sweetman will preside. Arrangements were under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
