Maynard Taylor

April 4, 1937 — October 25, 2018

Maynard ("Bean") McKinley Taylor, 81, returned home Thursday, October 25, 2018 and is now with his sweetheart, Ella Mae, who preceded him in death. He died due to complications of age. He was living in Ocean Springs MS, with his daughter Bettina, but was hospitalized in Meadeville, MS at the time of his passing. He was tall and skinny which earned him the nickname of "Bean" and is the name by which many friends and family knew him. He was born April 4, 1937 in Pin Oak, West Virginia to Bernard Wayne and Eva Catherine (Shrewsbury) Taylor. He attended Matoaka high school. After high school, he left home and served briefly in the US Navy. He met his sweetheart, Ella Mae, while working in Delta, Utah. They married February 16, 1963. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints June 30, 1978. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He made all who met him feel at ease with his humor and easy-going personality. What endeared him even more to the people close to him was his consistent kindness and generosity. He was always quick to serve, never expecting anything in return. Maynard spent most of his career working in the oil and gas industry for Sooner Hot Oil Services. He loved to be outdoors which is why he enjoyed his work so much. Hard work was his way of life and was something that he tried to instill in his children through example. Maynard loved playing the guitar. His love of older country music and playing the guitar started a beloved family tradition of listening to him play and sing to his children and later on his grandchildren. Sneaky Snake and Preacher and the Bear were family musts whenever he would play and sing. He also loved gardening, baseball, football, and watching Nascar races.

Maynard is survived by three children, Wayne and Michelle (Reid) Taylor, Dean and Jennifer (Winters) Taylor, and Bettina (Taylor) and Chris Young. Grandchildren Cole, Eliza, Harmon, Zach and Madison (Swensen) Taylor, Mikaylin (Taylor) and Miles Mecham, Madelyn, Jacob, Joshua, Michael, Mason, Luke, and Mark. Great grand-child, Aiden Taylor, his mom is Katelynn Lewis. Siblings, Clayton and Lucy Ann (Davis) Taylor and Burma (Taylor) and Benny Croy. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Taylor) and Bernard Billings, and daughter Jody from a previous marriage.
