Marvin Nash Wilson, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at the Shawn Manor Nursing Center at the age of 96.
Marvin was born February 3, 1915 in Liberal, Kansas to Walter and Nellie Wilson.
He joined Groendyke at age 23 in Beaver, Oklahoma. He later transferred to Ponca City where he owned his own transport truck, retiring at age 65. He was awarded the Million Miles Trophy for his record of no accidents.
Marvin married Anna Pugh in Beaver on September 2, 1937. They celebrated 74 years of marriage this year. They enjoyed square dancing, league bowling and traveling. He was the champion pool player at the Ponca City Senior Center where they spent many years attending events.
Marvin became computer literate in his 90s always looking for a new challenge. He could fix anything. He built 2 homes. He was a good Christian man who was interested in what others had to say.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred Taylor and Lorene Rodgers. He is survived by his wife Anna, 2 sons, Bill Wilson of Pampa, Texas and Gene Wilson and wife, Jessica of Plano, Texas grandchildren, Laraine and Mike Anduza of Corinth, Texas, Wayne and Julie Wilson of Frisco, Texas, Tim and Cheryl Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas four great grandchildren Christie, Amber, Meghan and Mitchell.
