Marjorie Irons

September 30, 1930 — August 12, 2016

Marjorie Nell Irons passed away peacefully Friday, August 12th at 6:00 pm at Via Christi Village. She was 85 years young.
Marjorie Baumgardner was born on September 30th, 1930 at her parents' home in Braman, Oklahoma at 8:12 pm. She attended Braman schools throughout her childhood and graduated from Braman High School Class of 1949. She moved to Ponca City after graduation to gain employment at Humes Rexall drug store. At this location, she met her future husband, Don Irons while listening to his pick-up line of asking for sour limeades.
Marjorie Nell Baumgardner and Marvin Don Irons entered holy matrimony on May 24, 1952 with their best friends, J.C. and Gwen Leake Jr., in a double ring ceremony in Ponca City. Mr. and Mrs. Irons were happily married for 55 years.
Due to this match made in Heaven, three wonderful children were born. Adonna Lea, Lou Ann, and Jeffrey Lynn. The family grew with the addition of treasured grandchildren, Tanya Renee Glover, Robert Don Irons, and step-grandchildren Elly Mae Ivy Matsumuro and Jasmine Audine Matsumuro.
Resulting from her love of sports, she watched and cheered loudly for the OU football team. All bad penalties or losing games were the result of poor referee calls. She also was an avid bowler for 47 years and often traveled to tournaments across the country. She made many long-lasting friendships and won numerous trophies.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don in 2007 and her parents, John Earl and Bertha Grace Baumgardner. She tragically lost a brother Donald Lee in 1947 due to a motorcycle accident. She was spoiled by her two loving son-in-law's Melvin Earl Glover and Michael Richard Garrity. She lost additional siblings, Dortha Jean Peetoom (Baumgardner) and infant brother Charles Ray Baumgardner.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Adonna Glover and Steve Barabasz, of Ponca City, Lou Ann Garrity of Ponca City, and Jeff and Betty Irons of Cushing. Additional survivors include one brother; Bill Baumgardner of Wichita, Kansas, grandchildren; Tanya O'Grady (Glover) and Kenny O'Grady of Owasso, Robert and Tomonica Irons of Yuba City, California, step-grandchildren; Ellymae Ivy Matsumuro of Texas City, and Jasmine Matsumuro of Cushing. Marjorie was a proud great-grandmother of Silas and Sadie Irons.
