Maria De La Luz Avila was born on September 4, 1931 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Hediberto Bojorquez and Maria Merced Madrid Bojorquez. She attended a small country school in Buena Vista Chihuahua until she was in the third grade. She then worked with her mother as a "Birth Giver" they would bundle up their gear in packs and carry it on their backs to the homes of expecting women. Maria assisted her mother with many births during her adolescent years. She met her husband, Tomas Avila, in Pintero. The couple move from there to El Cuidad de Juarez in Chihuahuah.

Maria moved to Blackwell because her children were here. She loved to travel back to Mexico. She also enjoyed cleaning the house and washing dishes. She liked to have music playing while she went about her day. Her favorite color was purple.

Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Oscar Avila, Maria Magdalena Avila, Fernando Avila, Tomas Avila and his wife Rita, Olivia Mata and her husband Juan and Martha Alicia Peters and her husband Hugo. She also will be missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, daughter Martha Olivia Avila, two brothers and five sisters.

She will be missed but not forgotten.
