Mable BlueBack LeClair passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age of 74. She was born on September 22, 1938 to Harry Walter BlueBack and Ethel Burrt BlueBack.
She attended Pawnee Indian School and was employed for many years with Jeans Cafe, Jeans Lasso, and Wimpys as a cook. Her favorite pastime was spending time at the casino.
Mable is survived by sons Harry BlueBack and wife Rosetta, Jesse LeClair, Jr., Joseph LeClair and companion Cathy, and a grandson that she raised as her son, Levi Martinez, all of Ponca City. Her daughters Gina and husband Victor Berryhill of Okemah, Scarla and husband Joseph Morton of Tennessee, and her granddaughters she raised as daughters, Melinda LeClair, and Ashley LeClair both of Ponca City, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children Ethel LeClair, and Vivian LeClair, siblings Francis Roy, Neil BlueBack, Arthur BlueBack, Chauncey BlueBack, Sr., Sylvenia Christie, Vivian Pemberton, and Abby WhiteTail, and 3 grandsons Harry BlueBack, III, A.J. Berryhill, and Jack Hernandez, Jr.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for their kindness to the staff of the Ponca City Medical Center, LinCare, the Ponca Tribe and all of Mrs. LeClairs casino friends.
A traditional noon Indian feast will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church with Bro Jimmy White presiding. Burial will follow at the Ponca Indian Cemetery.
Casket bearers are Nolan BlueBack, Arthur BlueBack, Johnny Poore, Leon Hernandez, Jose Baeza and Levi Martinez. Honorary casket bearers are Thomas Pappan Sr. and Jeff Pappan.
