Louis Harold Green of Ponca City passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at home with his family by his side. He was 85 years of age. Louis was born January 5, 1934 in Pawnee, OK the son of Charles Green and Emily Noear Green Kent.
Prayer services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2019 and Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Otoe Missouria Cultural building. The traditional feast and give away will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the Otoe Missouria Cultural Building. Burial will follow in the Otoe Missouria Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK. Casketbearers will be; E.J. Calls Him, Tanner Rush, Russell Rush, Brandon Rush, William Big Bear, Hayna Warrior. Honorary pallbearers are Pat DesJarlait, Toby Warrior, Devon White, Demitries Allen, Trey Calls Him, Loren Calls Him, Lucicino DesJarlait, Nick Rhodd and Smokey Green.
Louis attended school in Pawnee and graduated from the Chillocco Indian School in 1952. He served a tour of duty in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. After his discharge he came back to Kay county and married Anna Mae Overland and they moved to Chicago, so Louis could attend barbers' school. Upon graduating he returned to Ponca City and opened his Barber Shop downtown and he operated his barber shop for 50 years. He loved his job and the people he met thru the years. He also enjoyed spending time his grandchildren and family, playing pool and visiting the casinos.
He is survived by his daughter; Emaline Green and husband John DesJarlait, 1 son; Bill Green and his companion Phyllis Rush all Ponca City, OK, 1 brother; Garland Kent and wife Lucy of Ponca City, OK and 1 sister; Dorcas Kent of Tulsa, OK. grandchildren; Elden Calls Him II, Patrick DesJarlait, Tanner Rush, Russell Rush and Brandon Rush, William BigBear, Devon White, Nick Rhodd, Toby Warrior, Tara Warrior, Hayna Warrior, Faith Warrior, Marlene Warrior, Nicole Blanchard Great grandchildren; Malena Delodge, Anna Mae Calls Him, Tre Calls Him, Loren Calls Him, Lucicino DesJarlait, Delano Calls Him, Tanera Rush, Gracelynn Cornell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Dorothy Green, Virginia Kent and Doris Kent. 3 brothers Maurice Green, Charles Green and Marland Kent, and 3 children he helped raise; Judy Green, Charlene Warrior and Jerome Green.
