Lois Scott

Lois Maxine Scott, lifelong resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 90. Lois was born one of twelve children, July 29, 1918 at Ponca City, the daughter of David Taylor Robins and Myra Alzine Brown Robins. She started attending the First Church of God as a small child and had continued attending throughout her life. She received her schooling in the Ponca City Schools. She was married to Lee Scott on February 14, 1937 in Ponca City. In her early adult life she enjoyed riding horses and was a member of several round-up clubs. When her youngest child went to Jr. High School, Lois decided to seek employment in the work force. She began employment with J.C. Penny in 1957 and was employed for 28 years, retired, then worked another 10 years part time. She was an avid worker in the Ponca City PTA programs, serving in several positions in all the schools her children attended as well as being President of the Ponca City PTA for a number of years. For several years she belonged to the BPW Club and during that time she was chairman of the 101 Rodeo Queen contest and held several offices in the club. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to visit relatives in all parts of the United States and continued to do so until Lees bad health forced them to stop. Her biggest enjoyment in life was her 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The couple was always active in attending their grandchildrens various activities. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Haun and husband, Gene, of Park Hill, Oklahoma, and Sandy Hetherington and husband, Marvin, of Ponca City; one brother, Floyd Robins and wife, Carolyn, of Ponca City; 9 grandchildren, Rod Haun, Rocky Pameticky, Robin Farmer, Cheryl Romary, Dawn Rohrs, Nicole Proctor, Becky Spann Michelle Garza and Remington Scott; 18 great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Scott; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Robins, Dorothy Robins and Della Robins; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1997; one son, Bobby Scott, in 2007; 5 brothers, Jimmy, Earl, Ralph, Clarence and Clyde; 5 sisters, Effie, Delpha, Doris, Carol and Mary Dean; one grandchild Pete Del La Garza. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in the Hope Chapel on the grounds of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with Rev. Alan Popken of the First Church of God, presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
