Lloyd Andrew Mains, 65, of Shidler, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his residence.
Lloyd was born on January 16, 1946 in Shidler to Lloyd Weldon and Bernice Brown Mains. Lloyd was a 1964 graduate of Shidler High School. He then attended OSU Okmulgee becoming a diesel mechanic. He ran a hay hauling business in 196869 following his dads hay bailing jobs. While working for White Hat Feed Fertilizer in Grainola, OK, he married Katherine McClure on March 26, 1982 in Webb City. In 1983 he started employment for Phillips 66 Petroleum Co. in Shidler. In 1986, he was transferred to their Gray Plant refinery in the Texas panhandle moving his family to Lefors, TX. Where he was an EMT1 and was an active member of the Lefors Volunteer Fire Dept. They resided there until the refinery shut down and Lloyd and his family moved back to Oklahoma in 1997. Lloyd then started work for Wilhelm Construction of Shidler and then in September of 2001, Lloyd began his work with Osage County where he was machinery operator, recently celebrating his 10th anniversary.
At the time of Lloyd and Kathys marriage, Lloyd had 1 daughterMelissa and Kathy had 2 children Clint and Candace and later they had a son, FrankJW.
Lloyd was always involved in his childrens activities and played an important role in their lives. With Kathy by his side, he attended all sportsschool activities as well as 4H, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Lloyd was very active in their organizations, donating endless hours of his time and labor. Together they assisted Clint, Candace and JW with their show livestock, teaching them responsibility and giving them the ability to succeed. Education, employment and respect for others were very important to Lloyd and he did his very best to pass these values to all his children. When Lloyd was not working his fulltime job, he was doing side jobs of all kinds for people all over and in their earlier years, Kathy and their children worked with him on many a job spending countless hours enjoying their time together. Anywhere from plumbing, roofing or any other type of construction work. Those who knew Lloyd would say that there was very little he couldnt do and there was nothing he wouldnt do for someone if it was in his ability. Lloyd will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is now united with his wife Kathy, who passed away on Sept. 12, 2011, whom he loved so dearly.
Lloyd was also preceded in death by his parents, 1 sisterNora K. Swopes and 1 granddaughterShelby.
Lloyd is survived by his children Melissa Parks of Wynona,FrankJW Mains of Shidler, Clint McClure of Burbank and Candace Meadows of Shidler. 1 Sister Ella Payne of Shidler. 11 grandchildren Michael, Caroline, Cheyenne, Jeff, Cheyann, Dalton, Krysta, Peyton, Cailene, Tracyn and Tyler. 1 Great GrandsonEli. Also by his INLAWS Jeff and Carlene Harbeson of Webb City.
Funeral Services will be 2 pm Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Shidler United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Wildman officiating. Burial will follow in the Burbank Cemetery Casket Bearers will be Frank Mains, Clint McClure, Dale Head, Chip Charlton, Steve Lewis and Michael Mercer.
