Lee Hollingsworth

Lee J. Hollingsworth, resident of rural Ponca City, passed away Monday, July 04, 2011 in Oklahoma City. He was 81 years of age.

Lee was born November 19, 1929 at Hunnewell, Kansas, the son of Thomas and Flecie Hollingsworth. He grew up on a farm near South Haven, Kansas. He was a 1951 graduate of Shidler High School. He was married to Vonda May Quimby on October 23, 1953. Lee was employed for several years as a John Deere mechanic for the Osage Implement Company in Ponca City. He later became a pipefitter, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Local Pipefitters Union and his enjoyments were his grandchildren, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Vonda, of the home two children, Leetta Vanlandingham and husband, Terry, of Oklahoma City and Russell Hollingsworth and wife, Amy, of Ponca City one brother, Cecil Hollingsworth of Ponca City one sister, Mildred Hicks, also of Ponca City four grandchildren, Brian Vanlandingham, Eric Vanlandingham, Jeremy Hollingsworth and Mendy Johnson nine great grandchildren and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents one son, George Ray Hollingsworth two brothers, Frank and Forest Hollingsworth.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be David Hollingsworth, Jeremy Hollingsworth, Eric Vanlandingham, Ray Johnson, Brian Vanlandingham and Larry Klump. Honorary casket bearers will be Buddy Klump, Gilbert Schwarz, Joe Hollingsworth and Scott Hollingsworth.
