Kenneth Snake, resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday, September 24, 2013. He was 67 years of age. He was a member of the Sac and Fox Nation and had the Indian name of Taynugahshay. He was also a member of the Ponca Nation Indian Tribe.
Kenneth was born July 1, 1946 at White Eagle, the son of Andrew Snake Sr. and Pauline McClellan Snake. He was a graduate of Fort Sill Indian School and attended Okmulgee VoTech. Kenneth had worked at one time as a parts man with Chick Norton Buick of Tulsa. His enjoyments were attending powwows, selling Indian arts and crafts and going to casinos
He is survived by his two sons, Kendall Snake of Pawnee, Oklahoma, and Michael Snake of Muskogee, Oklahoma one brother, Sammy Snake of Tulsa one adopted brother, Tyrone Poore one grandchild, Kendall Dale Snake a great nephew Derek Whitehorn and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents one sister, Celeste Snake one brother, Andrew Snake Jr., and one halfbrother, Moran Bible Sr.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church. A noon meal will be served Friday, September 27, 2013 at the church with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. Bro. Jimmy White will be the presiding minister. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers are Kendall Snake, Michael Snake, Joseph Pratt, Houston Primeaux III, Gabriel Rhodd and Garren Primeaux. Honorary casket bearers are Sammy Snake, Tyrone Poore, Dean Russell, Johnny Poore, Hayley Tah, Kendall Dale Snake and Sandra Howell.
