Johnny Ray Rogers, resident of Ponca City, passed unexpectedly, Friday, April 26, 2013. He was 34 years of age.

Johnny was born November 3, 1978 in Huntsville, Texas, the son of Randy DeWayne Rogers and Jenny Shidler Rogers. His father died when Johnny was a young infant and was then raised and adopted by Bobby Lee Buckner. Johnny attended school in Ponca City and furthered his education thru the Pioneer Technology Welding Program and was employed with Mertz as a welder at the time of his death.

He was married to Fawn Wolters in November of 2004 and to this union two boys were born. The couple was divorced in March of 2009. Johnny was very active in his boys lives, always teaching them how to tinker with his tools just as he did his entire life. Johnny also enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends, especially his friends from the Country Bar. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his amazing smile and his willingness to help with any project that he came upon, whether it was for a friend or an acquaintance he was always willing to help.

He is survived by his two sons, Randy DeWayne Rogers and Briar Ray Rogers his mother, Jenny Shidler Davidson brother Lonnie Buckner sisters Katelyn Buckner and Janice Sue Sayles stepsister Krystal Davidson grandmother Doris Kathryn Shidler. He was preceded in death by his two fathers, Randy DeWayne Rogers and Bobby Lee Buckner sister Judy Ann Buckner grandfather Charles W. Shidler grandmother Juanita Michaels Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Eastern Heights Christian Church with Associate Pastor Mark Berry presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Honorary bearers will be Lonnie Buckner, Preston Paslay, Scott Crabtree, D.C. Crabtree, D.J. Combs and Andrew Dressen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for his children to the Johnny R. Rogers Memorial Account at any RCB location.
