Joe Allen Ball Sr., resident of Blackwell, passed away on Monday June 22, 2009 at the Northwest Specialty Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. He was 86. Joe was born the son of Otis Lee Ball and Kittie Crain Ball on March 3, 1923 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He grew up in Bartlesville and graduated from Ochelata High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on September 1, 1942 and was a World War II veteran. Joe served his country until his honorable discharge on October 4, 1945. In February of 1947, Joe married Donna Ausbrooks in Sedan, Kansas, and to this union, three children were born. Joe was employed with Phillips 66 Petroleum Company and retired after 45 years of loyal service. Joe enjoyed golf, baseball, bowling, bingo, watching old westerns and the Game Show Network. He also liked fishing and camping. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 509 and a member of the VFW in Blackwell. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna of the home; son, Joe Ball, Jr. of Blackwell, Oklahoma and daughter, Kandy Wise and husband, Tim of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Donna Mae Wehunt-Baker, Kerry Wehunt, Joe A. Ball III, Misty Lee Ball, Morgan Wise, Seth Wise, Shelbi Wise and Sierra Wise; 8 great grandchildren, Austin Baker, Garrett Baker, Madyson Ball, Spencer Ball, Brenner Ball, Mattea Ball, Kaleb Wehunt and Billi K. Wehunt; brothers, Roy Ball, Bernard Ball and Otis Ball; sisters, Norma Perrier and Delores Swain; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana Ball Wehunt; brothers, Raymond Ball and John Ball; and sister, Dorothy Carter. Casket bearers for the service will be Joe A. Ball III, Kerry Wehunt, Seth Wise, Tim Wise, Billy Wehunt and Mike Newman. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Reverend Daniel Clark of Sunset Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and other family at the home, 809 Birch Ave., Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Blackwell will serve a dinner for family and friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joes honor to the American Heart Association Oklahoma Chapter, 5700 N. Portland, Suite 203, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112.
