Jewell Crabs

d. June 10, 2010

The earthly journey of Jewell Irene Crabs began on October 29, 1918 in Perkins, Oklahoma with her mother and father Ivy Lee and Charley Wyatt in attendance it ended peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was married to Keith Crabs in 1939 in Chandler, Oklahoma. Jewell and the first of three sons, Jerry, followed Keith to construction projects during World War II living and working in several southern states. They settled in Stillwater, Oklahoma, so Jerry could start school, and a second son, Wyatt, was born. They bought land near Edmond, Oklahoma, and together they built the house and established the home into which arrived their third son, Tony. Jewell lived in this house for over fifty years before moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 2007 to be near her son, Wyatt.
Besides being a wife, mother and full time homemaker, she bought and sold collectables for over 30 years before retiring in 2003. She was a shrewd, successful business woman, but her customers knew her better as a loyal friend, a fierce critic of hypocrisy, and a champion of the last, the lost and the least. Not a religious woman, Jewells faith in both God and humanity was unshakable.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Crabs and his wife, Betsy of Bozeman, MT, Wyatt Crabs and his wife, Yvonne of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Tony Crabs and his wife, Bonnie of Sugarland, TX sisterinlaw, Marie Wyatt of Stillwater, OK and a much loved niece, Myra McWhorter of Oklahoma City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father husband five brothers and one sister.
Following her wishes she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK, as her family celebrates the adventure she has finished, and wishes her well on the new one just begun. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 North Union, Ste. 103, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
