Jerye Gauger, longtime area resident of the Braden community, passed Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Tulsa. She was 88 years of age.

Jerye was born May 6, 1924 in Clinton, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. Smith and Eva Bredy Smith. She was a graduate of Medicine Lodge, Kansas High School. She was married to Ray Gauger on April 16, 1944 at Yewed, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Enid and had lived at Lambert and Alva, Oklahoma prior to moving to the Ponca City Osage area.
She was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church. Her enjoyments included her grandchildren, great grandchildren, playing cards with her friends in the Braden community, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, reading, and in earlier years, traveling. She had traveled all over the United States and had made two trips to Europe, having once gone down the Rhine River.

She is survived by her two sons, Don Gauger and wife, Mary, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Steve Gauger and wife, Donita, of Enid one daughter, Keryl Saban and husband, Jim Ratzlaff, of Tulsa six grandchildren and six great grandchildren several nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband siblings George Smith, Leon Smith, Jean Brune, Charlie Smith and Robert Bobby Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church with Pastor Doyle Sharp presiding. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers are Kevin Gauger, Christopher Gauger and Mike Gauger.

The casket will be closed at the service, but family and friends may call at Grace Memorial Chapel until 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until noon on Thursday, April 25th.
