Jerry Lee Johnson, resident of Ponca City, passed Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his home. He was 70 years of age. Jerry was born October 24, 1939 at Rifle, Colorado, the son of Howard P. Johnson and Lucille DeChant Johnson. He attended schools in Rifle, Colorado. He was married to Barbara Jean DuVall in the early 1960s. The couple made their first home in Denver, Colorado. He was employed in the Denver area as a construction worker. He was married to Ima Jean Hammond on September 25, 1985 in Reno County Kansas. The couple moved to Ponca City in the late 1980s. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his children and many grandchildren. He is survived by his three children, Jerry Johnson Jr. and wife, Melissa, of Greeley, Colorado, Shelly Johnson of Ponca City and Crystal Johnson of Arkansas; five step-children, Barbara, Tommy, Becky, Christi and Marjorie; five grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Savannah, Cordell and Wesley; one great grandchild, Odin; three step-grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha and Diane; eight step-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl DeChant and Gene Johnson; two sisters, Alberta Dryling and Ruth Stevens; numerous nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; one brother, Bobby Johnson; one sister, Linda Bankston one grandchild, Felicia. A memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Jack Shamburger presiding. Arrangements were under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
