Jerome Lynn Koshiway, resident of Del City and former resident of the Red Rock community, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was 51 years of age. Jerome was a member of the Eagle Clan of the OtoeMissouria Indian Tribe.

Jerome was born November 24, 1960 in Riverside, California, the son of George and Martha Bassett Koshiway. He attended the Red Rock and Chilocco Indian School. He was employed as a general construction worker and was skilled at roofing, bricking and siding construction. His enjoyments were Native American Art where he was skilled in bead work. In earlier years he enjoyed the outdoors , fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Koshiway of Del City, Oklahoma five children, Anthony Koshiway, Sarena Koshiway, Russell Koshiway, Jeri Koshiway and Jerome Koshiway Jr. three sisters, Rita Koshiway, Diana Koshiway and Victoria Koshiway three brothers, Deswood Koshiway, George Koshiway and Frank Kent eight grandchildren two aunts, Linda Francis and Mary Howry two uncles G.K. Bassett and Tony Francis numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandparents Joe and Genevieve Bassett.

Prayer services will be held Monday evening at the OtoeMissouria Cultural Center near Red Rock. A noon meal will be served on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Cultural Center, to be followed by the traditional funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the OtoeMissouria Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Anthony Koshiway, Russell Koshiway, Jerome Koshiway Jr., Joseph Koshiway, Brian Scott and Leonard Koshiway. Honorary casket bearers will be Ivan Lawrence, Jalen Arkeketa and Travis Nimsey.
