Jean V. Ziegler, former resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 in Lenexa, Kansas. She was 92. Jean was born January 27, 1916 in Ponca City, the daughter of William R. and Alice A Beech Huff. Jean was a 1934 graduate of Ponca City High School. She was married to Edward J. Ziegler on April 4, 1936 in Wellington, Kansas. During the 2nd World War she worked at Continental Oil Co. as a parts delivery driver and, later in life, in food service at the Ponca City High School. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ponca City. Her enjoyments included camping and family and working in her yard in later years. She is survived by her son, Bob Ziegler and wife Jo, Lenexa, Kansas and granddaughters Barbara, Melissa and Deanna and families including five great-grandchildren, all of the Kansas City area; one sister, Lois Daniel, Crescent, Oklahoma and one brother, Howard Huff of Great Falls, Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, on November 15, 1973; her son, Richard Allen Ziegler, on July 14, 2003. A visitation with family will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Rev. Wilford Wisel, pastor of the Marland First Baptist Church will be presiding. Interment will be in the Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
