On Friday July 16, 2021, James “Jim” Lee Moore, beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Pa, and Uncle was called home at the age of 73. Jim was born February 12, 1948, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Robert “Bob” Moore and Edna DeRoin-Moore. Jim was raised in Red Rock, Oklahoma, graduating from Red Rock School in May 1966. In January of 1968, Jim enlisted into the US Army and received the following commendations: National Defense Service Medal, 2 Army Over Seas Bars, Parachutist Badge, Army Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge (M-14), Vietnam Service Medal, Army Expert Marksmanship Badge (M-16), Combat Infantryman Badge, and 3 Purple Hearts. After his honorable discharge from the US Army, Jim went on to receive multiple associate degrees from Rose State College. Jim had a passion for the mechanics; he could fix anything! This skill set led Jim to his career at Tinker Air Force Base, were he later retired from as an aviation mechanic and supervisor. After Jim retired, he continued his passion for helping others, leading people, and fixing things for the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. Jim served as a Gaming Commissioner and Director of Maintenance for his tribe until his day he died.
Jim is survived by his wife Carolyn Moore of the home, son and wife Jason and Micki Moore of Guthrie, son and wife Craig and Lena Moore of Midwest City, daughter, and husband Jammie and Nicholas Samsel of Oklahoma City, and Stepsons Troy and Tracy Duncan. Grandchildren Bailey and wife Melissa Moore, Alexandra Moore and husband Codee Gross, Blaine Moore, Nicole Moore, Nevaeh Smith, Alexis Smith, Julian Samsel, Laurabell Moore, Maximus Moore, McKenzie (and daughter Mercedes) Duncan, Leola Duncan, and Troy Duncan Jr. As well as his one and only Great-grandson Luke Gross. He is also survived by one sister Oresa Shotton and Husband Randy of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Three Brothers, Robert Moore and wife Felicia, Alvin Moore Sr and wife Denise and Bradley Moore, of Red Rock. Numerous Nieces and Nephews that he loved like his own children, and countless friends and co-workers.
Jim was preceded in death in by parents Robert and Edna Moore, wife Sandra Sue Moore, three sisters, Marvel Moore-Eagle, Julia Moore-Tah, Colleen Chouteau and brother Cecil DeRoin, all of whom he loved and cherished.
On Monday, July 19, 2021, an open viewing will be held between 8:00 am – 12:30 pm at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Immediate family viewing will begin noon – 1:00 pm. A funeral procession following our father home to the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery. Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. where he will be laid to rest.
