Hugh Frederick Fred Rouse, former resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Oklahoma City. He was 85 years of age.
Hugh was born December 4, 1925 at New Hanover, North Carolina, the son of J.F. Rouse and Eva Waters Rouse. He was married to Velma Jean Rouse on January 6, 1945 at Ada, Oklahoma. The couple had lived in Wilmington, North Carolina, Macon, Georgia and Columbus, Georgia before settling in Ponca City in 1949. He had been employed as a materials manager in the manufacturing business.
He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Ponca City. His enjoyments included attending church services, being outdoors, working in his yard and about the house.
He is survived by his son, Larry Rouse and wife, Mary, of Ponca City one sister, Elizabeth Croom, Bloomington, North Carolina two grandsons, Joel M. Rouse and wife, Kaitlyn, of Wilmington, North Carolina and Jason Lee Rouse of Ponca City four great grandchildren, Lindsey Marie Rouse, Kyle Rouse, Blake Rouse and Audrey Rouse. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife one son, Frederick who was killed in Vietnam in 1968 two sisters, Marie and Katherine.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor David Bigger presiding. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
