Howard Junior Reed, 73, of Ponca City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 17, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Howard was born January 19, 1935 to Jerry Reed and Alice Northup Reed in Hominy, Oklahoma. He grew up in Ralston, Oklahoma and later enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country for three years until his honorable discharge. He worked and lived in many places and was a foundry worker at Georgia Iron Works for 15 years. Howard and Traci spent the past 21 years together and then were united in marriage on October 21, 2006 in Burbank, Oklahoma. Howard had many enjoyments which included traveling, reading, fishing, hunting, watching bull riding, football and basketball. He also enjoyed working on antique cars and watching western movies, especially John Wayne westerns. Above all Howard loved spending time with his family and his grand children and great grand children were his world. He was a loving person and like a father to many. Howard was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Traci Reed of the home; two sons, Michael Eugene Reed of Beaver, Oklahoma and Corey Duane Reed of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jamie Marie Story of Ponca City, Oklahoma; three brothers, Fred Reed and wife, Laverna of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Jack Reed and wife, Sue of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Jerry Reed and wife, Kay of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one sister, Joanne Clift and husband, Tommy of Kansas; grandchildren, Michael Harley Reed of Georgia, Chance Quest and husband, Brandon of Arizona, Ivory and husband, Tom Coghlan of Washington, Luke Freeman, Jeremy Hawkins and wife, Liz of Sperry, Oklahoma, Rachel Carrethers and husband, Brian of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Timothy Vintson, Debbie Vintson, Christian Vintson, and Adriana Lowrey, all of Ponca City and Austin Reed of Ft. Worth Texas; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Ian, Elli, Alice, Katelyn, Blake, Trevor, Brianna, B.J. and Brayden; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty King and Helen Bolander; one son, Glen Reed; and two daughters, Beverly Reed and Ruth Hawkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel with The Rev. Dennis Wildman officiating.
