Howard R. Murray, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Blackwell Regional Hospital. He was 92. Howard was born December 4, 1915 at Rhea, Oklahoma, the son of Orville Murray and Clara Davis Murray. He was a graduate of Ringwood High School. He was married to Mary Esther Watson in the late 1930s. Howard served his country in the United States Army in World War II before serving 15 years in the Army Reserve. He was married to Mary Nolen in 1956. Howard was employed with Conoco for several years as a crane operator. He is survived by his son, Clark Murray, Davenport, Oklahoma; longtime caregiver, Peggy Cooper; one brother, Irvin G. Murray and wife, Betty, Oklahoma City; one sister Hazel Boggs of Delaware State; step-daughter, Dorothy Crow; step-grandsons, Mike Clinton, Scott Clinton, Steve Crow, David Crow, Kelly Crow, Eddie West and Tim Hawk; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; four brothers, Cecil, Alfred, Clifford and Ross; four sisters, Dorothy Murray, Orista Delska, Alice Wilson and Stella Crew; step-daughter, Barbara Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church, Blackwell presiding. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the home on Riviera. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of choice.
