Hope Star

April 16, 1959 — January 2, 2017

Hope White Star of the Maugah Clan and descendent of Yellowbear, passed away January 2, 2017 in Ponca City, OK . She was 57 years of age. Hope was born on April 16, 1959 in Pawnee, OK to Stanford and Frances King White Star.
The traditional noon feast will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 in the Ponca Cultural Center in White Eagle with Rev. Jim White and Oliver Little Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponca Indian Cemetery with Grace Memorial Chapel in care of Arrangements.
Hope grew up in Oklahoma and she worked as a Certified Nurses Aid until due to health she had to retire. Hope enjoyed doing Bead Work, Reading listening to music, going to the Casino, watching investigative TV shows and Cooking Breakfast.
She is survived by her 5 children: Robert Burris of Ponca City, OK Lea Burris Hernandez of Kansas, Raymond Burris of Tahlequah, OK, Sarah Burris of Tulsa, OK and Starling White Star of Ponca City, OK 1 sister; Julia Hardman of Ponca City, OK and 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother; Eddie Atkins White Star and 2 sisters; Anna Lea White Star Stafford and Pearl White Star Morris.
