Helena Orpah Primeaux Walkingsky, longtime resident of the Ponca City community, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa. She was 76. Helena was born July 28, 1932 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Homer Primeaux and Alice Grant Primeaux. She attended the Pawnee and Chilocco Schools. She was married to Charles Paul Walkingsky. Helena was a member of the Ponca Indian Methodist Church and her enjoyments included playing bingo, making star quilts and spending time with her son and other family. She is survived by her son, Reginald Walkingsky, of Ponca City; one brother, Howard Primeaux, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren that include Denice Page of Ponca City and Dennis Page of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; an adopted daughter, Alice Wilson; numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Prayer services will be held on Wednesday evening, September 24th, at 7 p.m. at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church. A noon meal will be served Thursday, September 25, 2008 with the funeral to follow at 2 p.m. also at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy White officiating. Burial will take place in the Ponca Indian Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
