Harvey Yourist

Harvey M. Yourist, resident of Ponca City, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 74.

Harvey was born September 19, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Isadore Yourist and Lillian Katz Yourist. He graduated high school in Detroit and completed two years of accounting school. He served 2 years in the United States Army with a tour of duty served in Germany. He was honorably discharged on May 14th, 1959. He was married to Lea Elizabeth Van Houten on September 8, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a rock quarry scale house operator. In earlier years his enjoyments included camping, swimming and bicycle riding.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Lea one son, Steven David Yourist of Ponca City two grandchildren, Summer Raye Yourist and Sierra Yourist. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Annabelle Baron.
